Introduction to Glassblowing 1

This class explores many basic techniques used in glassblowing. Students will learn how to safely operate different types of glassworking equipment and use a variety of tools to manipulate molten glass. In this two-day class we will create many solid and blown glass objects such as marbles, paperweights, pendants, jars, perfume bottles and ornaments. We will also experiment with many forms of glass such as dichroic, frit, and striking colors. This workshop concentrates on developing skills in basic Glassblowing and provides a solid technical groundwork for future development. The class includes 14 hours of studio time including lecture, raw materials, an information and resources packet, and the use of torches, kiln, oxygen, propane, ventilation, tools and studio space. Each student will have their own work station to use during the teaching and studio session. NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
